Dixon Marine Photography is Patrick Dixon, a Photography Instructor at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Washington, with 25 years teaching experience in darkroom, traditional and digitally-manipulated photography. Patrick also teaches at Centralia High School, in Centralia, Washington. and has taught at The Evergreen State College, in Olympia, the University of Alaska Kenai campus, Kenai Central High School in Alaska, and at workshops in Alaska and the lower 48. Patrick also worked as a photographer for State Farm Corporation's Pacific Northwest division Public Affairs department.

Formerly Sundog Photography, Dixon Marine Photography has been providing marine photographs of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest to magazines, book publishers and private collectors for nearly 30 years.

Patrick's images and writings have appeared in The Alaska Fisherman's Journal, Pacific Fishing magazine, National Fisherman magazine and Alaska Geographic. His clients include The West Coast Pacific Marine Fisheries Commission, The Cannon Beach Hotel of Cannon Beach, Oregon, The State of Washington, The State of Alaska, and Tesoro Oil Corporation.

Dixon Marine Photography's specialty is photo-illustration. Recently, Patrick created a new photographic technique he calls a "Digital Wash." This photo-manipulation combines the effects of photography, pen-and-ink and watercolor. Please view the Digital Wash gallery to see this unique technique.

 


Patrick's first chapbook of poetry and photography on commercial fishing in Alaska : Fat City, was released just a year ago. A few of the poems can be seen in the Poetry section.
